St. Ed’s Welcomes Charles Melby as Parish Trustee

As promised in last week’s bulletin, below is the biography for our new parish trustee Mr. Charles Melby. His appointment to our corporate board is effective as of May 2, 2015 for a term of two years. Chuck will serve as the Treasurer. Please be sure to welcome him as he begins his service to our church.

Charles Kent Melby — “Chuck”

I have been a member of St. Edward’s Parish since 2003. I was attending Mass for 10 years and was confirmed after RCIA before becoming a Catholic.

During my civilian working life I started out in Radio Engineering and ended up as CEO of MELBY COMMUNICATIONS, INC for 31 years. Melby Comm. is a sales engineering and manufacturing representative in the Radio Comm. industry. I spent 48 years in radio in several different areas.

I spent my early life (10 years) as a member of the United States Air Force. I was and still am proud to have served our great country in the Air Force Uniform. I was stationed in Europe and the Far East. For my Vietnam War experiences I was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.

I am a life member of the following organizations:
Veteran of Foreign Wars
Air Force Assoc. (Past President) National Rifle Assoc.

As a civilian I received the following awards from the United States Air Force:
American Spirit Award
Order of the Sword

Industrial Awards include:
Hanus Award — For contributions to the Radio Communications and Wireless Industry. IFR Gold Medal — (Instrumental Flight Research Company) For academics and contributions the Electronics instrument industry.

My hobbies are: History (Military), traveling and aviation. I learned to fly in 1959.

I am married to the former Anne Sheridan from Belfast, Northern Ireland, a retired executive of the Bank of Ireland.
