St. Ed’s Welcomes Mychael Jones as Director of Liturgy

July 12, 2015

My name is Mychael, pronounced Michael (e.g. Michael Learned). I am originally from Phoenix, AZ but I have lived in Lakeville for the past 9 years and have adapted to the Winter climate.

I grew up the daughter of music ministers and have been active in church ministry beginning early on, I played baby Jesus in the Nativity play at 3 weeks old. I have been blessed with being surrounded by those with tremendous talent and gifts in the many parishes I have been a part of. I was a music minister at St. Timothy’s Catholic Community in Mesa, AZ serving alongside Tom Booth and Matt Maher. More recently, serving as a member of the worship team, for the community of St. Therese in Deephaven, MN. I have also had the honor of working with middle school and high school students for National Catholic Youth Conference, World Youth Day, LifeTeen Ministries and Catechist.

I attended Arizona State University after graduating from Chandler High School where I studied music. I continued my studies in Psychology at University of Minnesota. I have recently started theological courses through University of Notre Dame with the intent to pursue a Master’s Degree in the future.

I have a beautiful daughter, Maggie. My family is a Notre Dame household. The Pope and the Quarterback for the Irish are the two most important roles in the Catholic church if you ask them.

I love going to sports events, especially a Twins game on a beautiful day or a Wild playoff game. We also enjoy going to concerts and cooking.

I encourage parishioners to come up to me and introduce themselves. I look forward to meeting many of you in the weeks to come and I welcome your feedback.

I will be overseeing liturgical ministries including: Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, Greeters and committees. Finally, I would like to thank Fr. Brian and the St. Edwards faith community for giving me this opportunity to serve as Director of Liturgy.
