Thank You from VEAP

Dear Fellow Parishioners:
As our month of April slips away, I want to share a recent letter from our local non-profit human service organization—VEAP (Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People). Great work is being done to care for our needy neighbors!

Easter peace,
Fr. Brian Fier

Dear Father Fier:
Thank you for your support of VEAP. Your donations have been put to work right away to help low-income individuals and families put food on the table and remain stable in their housing. Attached is your giving statement form 1/1/2016 through 4/11/2016. This includes all donations for our March Food and Fund Campaign which ended on April 11th. (Note: St. Edward’s Church donated a total of 2,404 pounds of food!!!!)

April is Volunteer Recognition Month and we have a lot to celebrate. VEAP is humbled and appreciative that over 2,500 individuals support the organization with their donations of time and talent. (Note: there are dozens and dozens of our parishioners who serve as VEAP volunteers.) Shari DeBliek, VEAP’s Volunteer Director, says, “VEAP would not be possible without the support of hundreds of dedicated and compassionate community volunteers. We are grateful for their short-term, seasonal and ongoing gifts of precious time and talents. With them our mission of ‘Neighbors Serving Neighbors in Need’ will continue for many years to come.”

Volunteers schedule client appointments, drive seniors to medical appointments, sort food donations, help with mailings, perform data entry, answer the phone and perform other tasks that ensure VEAP is ready to serve our neighbors in need. It is truly a wondrous sight to behold. All of this and more is accomplished by the commitment we have to make our world a bit better and a bit brighter.

VEAP believes that when individuals and families are stable, our community is stronger. On behalf of all the families and individuals VEAP serves, thank you again for your support. Together we are making a difference in the lives of neighbors in our community.

Sincerely,

Patty Schulz
Advancement Director

P.S. When planting your garden this spring, plant a row for VEAP and donate a part of your harvest. The fresh vegetables and herbs are much appreciated by VEAP clients.

(Note: St. Edward’s VEAP garden will be planted in early June on the south side of our campus. Everyone can participate in our efforts to raise “Veggies for VEAP”. Read more.)
