Faith Formation Mission Statement
We are a Roman Catholic community that believes in ongoing conversion toward deeper relationship with God, others and creation — the fullness of life for all as expressed by Christ by offering formational and spiritual opportunities for all parishioners womb to tomb.
Value and Belief Statements
- On-going conversion is its purpose, offering ways to reflect on that journey.
- The parish community is a primary formative factor.
- It is intergenerational and interdependent.
- Adults are the primary focus, and are instrumental in Youth and Family Formation through the modeling and sharing of faith.
Exploring Faith Together
We at St. Edward’s Church invite you to join a vibrant, alive and active formational environment for all parishioners of all ages and at all stages of their faith life. All are welcome to our community of faith to explore our faith together. We strive to offer quality faith sharing and learning opportunities that go beyond boundaries to intersect with liturgy, social justice and pastoral care ministries. We support life-long learning in the faith and work to see God active in our lives and the world.
From Birth through Adults
Faith Formation at the Church of St. Edward focuses on adult formation, the primary teachers of the faith, by offering enrichment and educational presentations in all areas including sacramental formation. Each of our formational ministries come with rave reviews; from Baptism preparation and post baptism offerings to Sunday school, then moving on to grades 1-5 and middle school formation, traditional age sacramental formation, senior high school ministries, young adult opportunities and adult formation.
Fall Programs & Registration
Faith formation registration materials and program information are mailed in August. Feel free to contact our faith formation staff with questions at any time.
“The Christian community has received the gospel and
the community is responsible to understand it,
celebrate it, live it, and communicate it to the world.”

Faith Formation Commission
Our leadership structure in our St. Edward’s community calls forth parishioners to participate fully in decision-making processes. The commission is comprised of two volunteers from the individual Faith Formation committees and is a three-year term commitment. The commission members vision for our future as well as make decisions that are vital to the growth of our ministries. We meet monthly during Leadership Night where the Parish Council and all commissions meet at the same time.
The commission collaborates together on all aspects of formation to plan intergenerational events, themes for the year that might be presented by the Archdiocese or the greater Church. This is always a lively group discussion about dreams and wishes of what Faith Formation ministries can provide for all members of our community.
To learn more or offer input to the Faith Formation Commission contact Patrick Smalley, Director of Grades 6-12 Faith Formation & Young Adults, at 952-835-7101, ext. 211.
