Volunteers provide hospitality to family and friends of the deceased during the hours of visitation before the funeral.
Refreshments such as coffee, juice, and donuts are provided in a caring atmosphere. The families of the deceased have expressed appreciation for this ministry.
As part of our funeral ministry, St. Edward’s has a rich tradition of providing funeral luncheons after the Mass. A group of wonderful men and women generously give of their time serving the grieving families and friends.
This is truly an extension of Jesus’s table fellowship towards those who are hurting.
While our dedicated volunteers make it look effortless, last year we hosted over forty-one such meals. It takes time and many hands to do the coordinating, set-up, serving and the clean-up that is necessary to accomplish this much needed and appreciated ministry. The time commitment is flexible and is open to when you are available.
If you are looking for a way to serve others, consider letting your inner Martha come out and
becoming a part of a “well-oiled team” here at St. Ed’s. We would welcome you with open arms!
