Dear St. Edward’s Parishioners,
“It is with very mixed emotions that I write this farewell to all you good people of St. Ed’s. I have enjoyed 13 years working here at St. Ed’s, wearing various different hats, & sometimes all at once! I have loved every minute of my time working with all of the unbelievably dedicated, talented and wise volunteers in the various ministries I’ve been honored to direct. I’m amazed at the intelligence, the strong faith, the giftedness & the strength of character that I’ve witnessed in the people of St. Ed’s – especially those who have taken on the responsibility, the challenge of leadership in these ministries. I have so many wonderful memories! – of the challenges we faced head on together, of the positive energy that we brought to all we did together, of the laughter and the FUN we shared, of how you modeled to me and the world the way to walk in the footsteps of Jesus doing his good work. St. Ed’s has been such an engaging and vibrant community, full of life, full of willingness to do what it takes, embracing the present positive reality, full of dreams for better futures, and memories of meaningful community. I have been nurtured and have grown here at St. Ed’s, through the support, the encouragement, the camaraderie, the challenge, the cooperation, the direction, the creativity & the ideas that have been shared with me by Pastor, co-workers and volunteers. I have been known to push for what I feel strongly about, to “nag” people gently to step up and help, to appreciate all that people do for this community, to be a bit “wordy,” to challenge people to do yet more. I’ve been seen wearing funny hats or playing the fool in some other way to draw attention to a cause. I enjoy the work I do. I feel guided by God’s spirit. And right now I feel God is calling me to another position, in another parish, in an opportunity that I never thought I’d have, and into a new adventure (closer to my home, too!). I need to heed God’s call. Though it means leaving the people and community I love here at St. Ed’s, I will be going toward a new mission, to share what I can with a new community, to try to walk in Jesus’ footsteps, as you all taught me so well. I will miss you all.”
Mary Pat Potts
Director of Adult Faith Formation, Community Life, and Social Justice & Charity
Farewell to MaryPat Potts
We bid a tearful goodbye to Mary Pat Potts who will be leaving St. Ed’s to take a position in her home parish as Pastoral Care/Social Justice Director. Mary Pat has been at St. Edward’s Church for more than 12 years. She started as Middle Grades Faith Formation and Social Justice & Charity Director and in the past 3 years has been the Adult Formation, Community Life and Social Justice & Charity Director. We will miss her unbridled enthusiasm and her passion for justice (& St. Ed’s sister parishes), formation and community. We thank her for all the good work she and the volunteers she has worked with have accomplished together over the years and wish her well as she continues her ministry in Christ. Plan to join Mary Pat in a farewell celebration on Sunday, December 20th after both Masses during Donut Sunday. Sadly, MaryPat’s last day in the parish office will be Wednesday, December 9th.
