Please welcome Fr. Jerry Rogers to our Masses this weekend (June 3/4). Fr. Rogers is from St. Mary’s Mission, which has served the Anishinaabe-Ojibwe people of Red Lake, Minnesota for over 150 years. Founded in 1888, St. Mary’s Mission School provides a quality pre-school to 6th grade Catholic education in a safe and healthy environment where children are immersed in learning and surrounded by the strength of their community’s faith and the power of prayer. Students grow in faith, develop cultural pride and achieve academic excellence. Guided reading and math programs provide individualized attention and a variety of approaches to support and reinforce learning. Due to high poverty and lack of employment opportunities, many families struggle to pay tuition. Yet no child is turned away from St. Mary’s Mission School because of their family’s inability to pay. Instead the school depends on the generous donations of individuals, businesses, churches and foundations off the reservation to help the school thrive and students pursue their dreams.
