Faith Formation During Coronavirus
As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis intensifies, we have suspended all in-person gatherings until further notice. We haven’t cancelled church. We’ve MOVED it online! Not out of fear but as an act of social solidarity in order to slow the spread of the virus and protect the most vulnerable. This is loving our neighbor.
We can still worship together. We can still trust in Scripture. We can still be the church. We can still seek out new ways to serve people. We are in this together.
The best way to stay connected to Faith Formation in this time is through our eNews now sent weekly on Wednesday mornings.
The world news is shocking and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But then God reminded me that I have said multiple times, “I wish my kid wasn’t growing up so fast. I wish time would slow down. I wish I had more time to play with him” and well… here we are.
While we pray for this virus to end, we can simultaneously choose to see the days ahead as a gift.
So in these times where your family may be together more than normal, we want to come alongside you and provide resources and materials for you to take advantage of that time together and continue faith formation at home. See below for how we are adapting our programs for all ages.
All families with kids of any age are invited to an online trivia night this Sunday at 7pm! Log in to Zoom by clicking here or entering this Meeting ID: 523 691 280.
We can’t wait to see you then!
Even though we can’t be together in person for a while, we will still be putting together content for you and your kids to do together each week! We’ll be sending this out in our eNews each Wednesday morning as well as posting each week’s materials here for elementary and Sunday School (ages 3-5).
Having fun with your kids matters. Especially in this time of uncertainty and fear. We’ve compiled a list of 20 at-home ideas for you and your kids to just have fun together!
For the time being, we have taken all student ministries into a digital format! Join us for Wednesday Night Live at 7pm on Instagram @steds_youth each week. This invitation is for ALL middle and high students grades 6-12!
Confirmation Small Groups
Patrick will be hosting a CONFIRMATION PARENT-only meeting on Zoom this Sunday at 2pm to get your input and walk through what you can expect in the coming weeks/months from St. Ed’s. Use this link to join or enter meeting ID: 104 374 819.
At this time we do not have information as to whether the Confirmation liturgy on May 5 will take place as planned, but hope to know more in the coming weeks once the Archdiocese has made a decision. In the meantime, we’ll continue with our prep by meeting in online small groups. Students will be emailed a link to sign up for a time. You can find the link to all our confirmation materials here.
We’ve always offered online small groups for our graduated almuni. Now with more time on your hand, you may want to take advantage of this! Led by Patrick, these small groups meet once or twice a month virtually with peers to discuss what faith looks like after high school and beyond. We’ve re-opened these groups for you to join during these times. Contact Patrick for more details.
Use our parish resource FORMED which is a website (and app) that has movies, videos, talks for adults and kids! Take advantage of your FREE subscription: Go to stedwardschurch.formed.org and click “Register Now” to enter your name, email, and desired password.
Lenten Bible Study
For those already registered in our Lenten Bible Study, you should have received an email with instructions on how to access these materials. If not, please contact Patrick. If you find yourself with some free time and would like to start this study, find the materials here.
Please contact us at any time with questions. We won’t be in the office to receive phone calls but we will be available by email. Include your phone number and we’re happy to give you a callback.
