The ministries and programs at St. Edward would not be possible without our many volunteers! Much of the programming at St. Edward is parishioner-led and grouped into one of different six commissions: Administration, Faith Formation, Parish Life, Pastoral Care, Social Justice & Charity, and Worship. Commission members, ministry staff and parish leadership come together to share ideas and direction throughout the year.
ADMINISTRATION - From serving on the Parish Council to joining the Lock-Up Crew, volunteers help maintain our building, coordinate how money is acquired and spent, and communicate about what is happening in our parish. Visit our Administrative Ministries page for more information.
FAITH FORMATION - Whether it is leading a Sunday School class, volunteering at Wednesday Faith Formation, or assisting with an adult Bible study, opportunites to share our faith happen every day.
PARISH LIFE - We build a sense of community through events such as Donut Sunday, Cana Dinner and our annual Gather Fall Festival. If you love to plan events, or help out with social gatherings, consider volunteering with Parish Life.
PASTORAL CARE - Those in our community who are hurting or in need of support are the focus of ministries in Pastoral Care. Volunteers knit prayer shawls, tend the memorial garden, serve funeral luncheons and so much more. If you have a caring heart and servant spirit, check out ways to get involved with the opportunities in Pastoral Care.
SOCIAL JUSTICE & CHARITY - Whether we meet as volunteers in our VEGGIES 4 VEAP garden, or travel to the Dominican Republic on an annual mission trip, building connections strengthens our community. If you are interested in actively supporting charities both within our local neighborhood and beyond our own borders visit our Social Justice & Charity pages for more information.
WORSHIP - From the behind-the-scenes activities of the Art & Environment team, to singing in the Adult Choir, opportunities to get involved with worship ministries vary widely. Visit our Liturgy, Music Ministry, or Technology Team pages for information on using your gifts and talents in one of these areas.
Creating a Safe Environment
Protecting children, youth and vulnerable adults is of highest importance at our parish and throughout our archdiocese. All clergy, parish employees and volunteers who have either regular or unsupervised interaction with minors or vulnerable adults must complete the Essential 3 requirements:
Background Check – The background check is run by an archdiocese-approved agency and provides a criminal history. This is an important step to screen out individuals who might present a danger to children and youth.
Code of Conduct – A person must acknowledge that he or she understands and agrees to the principles and standards outlined in the code of conduct appropriate to his or her employment or ministry. A Code of Conduct training video by Tim O’Malley, Director of Ministerial Standards and Safe Environment is available for public reference.
Safe Environment Training – VIRTUS Online Protecting God’s Children and Saint Paul-Minneapolis Reporting Suspected Child Abuse is a 75-minute online awareness training that provides information on the protection of children and vulnerable adults. Specific training is included on how to report suspected abuse in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
