About: The St. Edward's Choir sings a variety of sacred music styles, from traditional to contemporary, in three-part (SAB) and four-part (SATB) harmonies
Open to: Grade 9 through adults; no audition or prior experience required
Rehearsals: Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm
Commitment: Rehearses weekly, sings approximately 2 Masses per month, including Christmas and Easter
About: The St. Edward's Children's Choir sings a variety of sacred music styles focused on learning the fundamentals of singing in unison and two-part harmonies
Open to: 2nd through 7th grade; no audition or prior experience required
Rehearsals: Wednesdays from 5:45 to 6:30 pm (before Faith Formation classes)
Commitment: Rehearses weekly concurrent with the Faith Formation schedule, sings for several 10:30 am Sunday Masses throughout the year, plus a few Wednesday evening 6:30 pm Masses for Faith Formation
About: The cantor helps lead the congregation in singing at Mass. Strong vocal abilities and musical leadership skills are key for this role.
Open to: Grade 9 through adult singers; an audition is required for this role
Rehearsals: One-on-one rehearsals with cantors and the music director are available to be scheduled on an as-needed basis to work with your availability
Commitment: Cantors typically sing one or two weekends per month at either the 5:00pm Mass on Saturday, or at both the 9:00 and 10:30am Masses on Sunday.
About: The worship band is our core group of musicians at every Mass, and it includes piano, keyboards, drums, bass, acoustic and electric guitars
Open to: Worship band musicians must be comfortable reading music from lead sheets and creating their own parts based on reference recordings; an audition is required for this role
Rehearsals: Worship band members are expected to spend time at home rehearsing music on their own during the week, and the entire band comes together to rehearse one hour before Mass
Commitment: Worship band members are scheduled in a flexible style to fit your desired time commitment level best
About: Strings, woodwind, and brass instruments are always a welcome addition to our music ministry
Open to: This role is best suited to those musicians who are confident soloists on their instrument(s) and are playing at an intermediate to advanced level; an audition is required for this role
Rehearsals: Instrumentalists are expected to spend time at home rehearsing music on their own during the week, and the entire band comes together to rehearse one hour before Mass
Commitment: Instrumentalists are scheduled in a flexible style to fit your desired time commitment level best
