In September 2022, Tandem House was one of five recipients of a Tegeder Fund grant. Their $5,000 grant was to help furnish apartments in the house. These apartments create opportunities for women and their children. The Tegeder Committee recently received a thank you email from Kimberly Rynders at Tandem House, along with a picture showing a few of the items purchased with the funds they received.
Dear friends of St. Edwards Church:
We wanted to say thank you for your gracious donation of $5,000 that supported our efforts of completely furnishing Tandem House! The mamas and their babies moved in on December 1st and are all settled in! We used this grant to help purchase all of the items the mothers would need in their kitchens, bathrooms and their bedding. Below is an excerpt of a message one of the mamas wrote as an expression of gratitude. It was so lovely, I wanted to share it with you!"Hello, my name is in Gena. I am one of the Mama’s that reside at the Tandem House with my child Angel, who is 14 months old and I just wanted to show some appreciation for making it possible for Kim two open up this beautiful opportunity for us single mothers. I am thankful in so many ways and grateful because if I wasn’t here I would still be homeless with my child, which is not a great feeling as a mother trying to provide for her child. Now that I have stable housing. I am able to work on my goals. And start a better future for me and my child I have had such traumatizing events happen since childhood, but now that I am able to start my new journey at the tandem house, makes me happy and full of joy, and able to overcome all the trauma that I went through so again I just would like to say thank you so very much for giving all of us women this opportunity."
