Since the introduction of The Tegeder Fund in January of this year, seven local non-profit organizations have submitted grant requests. The process involved a short form that gave the organization a chance to describe how the funds would be used and provided basic organizational and legal information. Grant requests were forwarded to the Tegeder Committee members for vetting. The committee met in May and reviewed the proposals, recommending five grants to move forward for final approval from Father Rick and the trustees. Once approved, committee members delivered the checks to the non-profits.
The Tegeder Committee is pleased to announce the first five recipients of grant monies through The Tegeder Fund:
- Banyan Community received $5,252 to purchase computer equipment.
Their mission is to transform lives in the Phillips neighborhood by developing youth, strengthening families and creating community. - Haven Housing received $2,500 to build a courtyard gazebo.
They provide women and children in crisis with a stable environment through housing and emergency shelter. - Family Fest Ministries received $2,500 for the Little Boost Family Scholarship Program.
They work with families and churches as a youth, marriage and family ministries resource. - PLAC received $500 seed money for their summer event.
Their mission is to enhance knowledge and pride in the cultural heritage of Latin American Children. - 30,000 Feet received $5,000 to purchase computer equipment.
Their mission is to provide creative learning experiences and tech apprenticeships for marginalized youth.
One non-profit organization’s request was placed on hold for additional information and will be reviewed again in September when the committee meets again. At that time, The Tegeder Committee will also review new requests received in the interim.
