The Parish Council, comprised of lay leaders and clergy, is a leadership body engaged with our pastor in discerning the ways God is speaking to this community. The Parish Council is the glue that holds the parish structure together and strives to act in the spirit of service. By example and leadership, Parish Council members foster the growth of faith and love in the entire community. The council members serve as representatives to the Worship, Parish Life, Faith Formation, Social Justice & Charity, Pastoral Care, and Administration commissions as well as the Finance Council.
At the end of June, three current council members will complete their three-year terms on the Parish Council. Due to a member resignation, there is a fourth opening with a two-year term. To fill these vacancies, the Church of St. Edward utilizes a discernment process, beginning with the nomination of potential candidates.
There is no particular background or experience necessary for service in this vital ministry. On the contrary, the council is comprised of members of varying occupations and with differing interests and skill sets. All council members should, however, possess certain qualities that will help increase their effectiveness in this role:-
An active prayer/spiritual life with an enthusiasm about St. Edward

The ability to dream and envision what the future of St. Edward might and should look like

The ability to see the big picture, rather than concentrating on a single ministry area or issue

The willingness to get involved in one of the six parish commissions

The willingness to listen to others and collaborate in consensual decision-making
All council members must be at least eighteen years of age, be willing to attend periodic meetings of their assigned commission, monthly Parish Council meetings, quarterly Leadership Nights, and be willing to serve a three-year term.
