Over the past year our parish began implementing Archbishop Hebda’s Pastoral Plan as part of both the SYNOD process and our own Game Plan. Nine small groups were organized; currently some of these continue to meet, while others are restarting later this year. As we add new small group opportunities throughout the upcoming year, please consider joining in. You can find a link to our current small groups on our Adult Faith page As we continue with Year Two, our focus is on the Mass. The following are some details regarding how St. Edward is focusing on the Mass throughout the coming year. Beginning Tuesday, October 8, we are offering a six-week study by Bishop Barron titled “The Mass”. To accommodate different schedules, morning and evening sessions are planned. All parishioners are encouraged to participate. Online payment and registration already open. Find a link on the adult faith page or the online signup page of our parish website. You can also use the paper registration in this bulletin, or the form located on the resource wall. In addition to our study, we are offering two speaker sessions: On October 2 & 3 the staff of St. John’s Bible from St. John’s University will share their presentation on how the Bible came to be. On February 25, we have a presentation by Pat Milea on “How to Keep Holy the Sabbath” as we prepare for the Lenten season. A year-long series of articles titled “Know the Mass, One Word at a Time” is planned for weekly publication in the parish bulletin or as a handout on the resource wall starting in early October. These focused words will help us reflect on our weekly celebrations of the Mass. Father Tim will be sharing, via video teachings, a more in-depth explanation of why we do specific rituals during the Mass. Look for the videos this winter. Eucharistic Adoration will be offered in our Blessed Sacrament Chapel every Monday as we enter the season of Advent. The chapel will be open for Adoration from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Watch for more details in upcoming bulletins or on our Worship page this fall.
